Smart speakers
Apple’s HomePod didn’t arrive until February, so Amazon’s Echo hogged the limelight at CES. Making the most of the moment, Amazon launched the Echo Spot (£120) – a smaller version of its Echo speaker, with a circular screen. Google didn’t have any new versions of its Home speaker, but announced plans to license its Assistant voice tech to other companies, such as JBL and Sony, who will produce smart speakers with screens to compete with the Amazon Echo range.
