How to Be precise with Smart Folders

-

1 Create a Smart Folder

Using Smart Folders, you can target specific types of documents you know might be using lots of space because of what you do with your Mac, such as huge Photoshop, audio or video files. In Finder, go to File > New Smart Folder.

2 Target large files

Click the + button on the right to add a new condition and set it to File Size is greater than 100MB. You’ll see every file that takes up more than that amount on your Mac. Choose View > Status Bar and you’ll also see how many there are.

3 Tweak and save

Add more conditions – to fine-tune the selection by date or kind, say. Also,

≈- click a column header to add more columns than are initially shown, such as Size. Click Save to store your search, with an option of adding it to Finder’s sidebar.
