Search for a place

The search bar at the top of the window will automatically suggest places as you type. You can enter place names, landmarks, venues and postcodes, as well as the name of any person in Contacts for whom an address is stored.

Traffic conditions

Once your journey is plotted on the map, pick Show > Show Traffic to see the conditions on the roads and any slow‑ moving areas that you should avoid.

Tailor directions

You can adjust the directions to suit your needs. Click View > Directions > Driving Options to avoid toll roads or motorways.

Get location info

A red pin marks your destination. Click it, then the ‘i’ to get extra info on the location, add it to your favourites, report an issue, and more. Click a step in directions to zoom the map around that part of the journey. Click and hold on a place to drop a new pin there.

Take a tour

The info box also lets you take a Flyover tour. In a selection of major cities, this moves over the destination and shows you notable attractions. Click the 3D button and switch to Satellite mode for a similar view that lets you explore freely.

Check the weather

Zoom in and the app shows local weather and temperature conditions at the top right. This info is for the location at the centre of the map.
