Test 2 Ease of use
Workflow is vitally important
Ideally, you don’t want an app to get in the way of your creativity, but good shots do take a little time to set up. ProCamera provides a very handy pop-up menu of all its major settings from the base of the screen, and is pretty easy to get to grips with. The technique for switching cameras on dual-lens models is also simple. ProCam also makes things easy, with a swipe-up menu containing all the major tools, as well as file format and lens selection at the top.
Halide has a customisable quick bar, focus peaking and Depth mode for dual-lens models, though is fractionally more fiddly to set up. Camera+ is very simple to use, but this is partly because its feature set is less comprehensive. Prime is powerful, but could do with clearer labelling of its controls. RAW Power is easy to figure out, though, for the moment, it’s for image editing, not for taking the original photos.
