A royally impressive blog editor
Not so long ago, the only tool that made life easy for bloggers was MarsEdit.
There are more options these days – so is there still room for MarsEdit’s latest version?
We think so. MarsEdit 4 is the same excellent app but with a facelift, plus improved WordPress support and topnotch system integration. Blog posts are automatically saved and versioned, and it works with major platforms like WordPress, Blogger, Tumblr, and Movable Type. There’s a Safari extension that enables you to start a MarsEdit post from within the web browser, too.
The built-in preview is impressive; it’s exceptionally fast and has a tiny footprint. On one blog we tested, we could switch between any one of 2,580 posts spanning 13 years, and view or edit them without any discernible pause or stutter.
If you’re working across multiple sites, you’ll like the per-blog preferences – not just logins, but default media sizes and blog editor options, publishing preferences and WordPress custom fields. You can enable or disable comments and trackbacks, apply filters and pick when to publish. MarsEdit makes posting effortless and highly reliable.
