Things to consider…

Everything you need to know before getting started

-

1 How big are the keys?

Not all keyboards are created equal, and what’s fine for occasionally tapping away can be positively painful if you suffer from RSI. If you plan to do a lot of typing, it’s a really good idea to try before you buy.

2 Where will you be using it?

A keyboard case that transforms into a stand for viewing media is really handy for plane or train tables. Some clever folding designs really need to be sat on a solid, flat surface, though.

3 Is there a place for a Pencil?

If you have the latest 9.7-inch iPad or an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil, does your chosen case have somewhere to hold the Pencil? It’s a little thing that might get annoying over time if your case doesn’t have one.

4 Does it fit every iPad?

Many iPads share the same screen size but don’t have the same thickness; as mentioned above, different models differ in depth. Some sculpted cases are very precisely engineered to fit just one iPad model.

5 Do you need drop protection?

If you have kids or you’re just accidentprone, a drop-proof case could save you money by avoiding a cracked iPad screen. Shockproof cases are rarely pretty, but smashed iPad screens aren’t gorgeous either – and certainly don’t improve the look of your bank balance.

6 How long does the battery last?

Battery lifetime is also a consideration. Do you want a case that only needs to be charged every other birthday, or are you okay with one that runs out of puff every few days?
