Photoshop for iPad confirmed
Powerful image editor comes to the iPad for the first time
While Apple has touted the iPad as a computer replacement, there has been a notable omission for some
time. Powerful apps like Photoshop haven’t made it to the iOS-powered tablet, meaning creative users who use Adobe’s app have had to stick to the Mac. Well, not for much longer. According to
Bloomberg, Adobe is working on bringing Photoshop to the iPad in 2019. This will be the full version of the image-editing app, too, not a cut-down edition. This means you’ll be able to create an image on one platform, then complete it on another without having to compromise on tools.
That said, Bloomberg reports, “The new tools will have mobile-friendly interfaces more familiar to [casual users], rather than being replicas of the existing desktop versions.” This should make Photoshop easier to use on the iPad’s smaller screen sizes.
Scott Belsky, Adobe’s chief product officer of Creative Cloud, said, “There’s a lot required to take a product as sophisticated and powerful as Photoshop and make that work on a modern device like the iPad.”
Bringing Photoshop to the iPad gives Apple’s device a boost in its battle with Microsoft’s Surface tablet, which can run the full versions of both Windows and Photoshop.
