Can I access iCloud from Linux?

Apple has software for Windows, but none for Linux. Any operating system with Firefox 27 or Chrome 35 or later should be able to use services at iCloud.com. Nathan Broadbent has made his own tools for Linux (bit.ly/ndblinux).

Can Thunderbolt 3 be used for networking too?

Yes, you can connect two Macs using a cable bearing the lightning logo and the figure 3. In theory, you could also connect more Macs in a star from a Thunderbolt 3 hub, but no one seems to make one yet.
