How to Use Ask to Buy

1 See who’s covered

Ask To Buy is turned on automatically for anybody in your family group under the age of 13. On your Mac, check a family member’s status by going to  > System Preferences > iCloud > Manage Family and selecting them on the left.

2 See the status

Family members can check whether Ask To Buy is turned on for their account by going to the place mentioned in step 1 in their Mac user account, or Settings > iCloud > Family Sharing on iOS. They can’t change it – only you have that power.

3 Enable Ask To Buy

If you find that Ask To Buy isn’t already switched on for a family member, you can make it so from the same places on your Mac or iOS device. When you do, the other person will receive an email notification of the change.
