How to Link sensors with IFTTT

1 Start listening

While HomeKit is great if all your hardware is compatible and you have a hub (bit.ly/hubk), IFTTT (ifttt.com) offers a broader reach. Sign in, search for your trigger hardware, be it a thermostat or sensor, then click and connect it.

2 Pick a trigger

You’ll see a number of preconfigured actions; in the case of thermostats, these will usually point in the wrong direction for your needs. Head down to the ‘triggers and actions’ link to see what metrics you’ll be able to link to.

3 Link it all up

Scroll back up, click My Applets, and create a new one. For the ‘this’ portion, select your device and a temperature trigger. Set the appropriate value, and then you’re free to set anything as ‘that’ – it’s up to you.
