HOW TO Add travel info to your events
1 Share your location
First, grant Fantastical permission to use your location when prompted. If you blocked it, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Location Services. Click the padlock, then enable Fantastical Helper and Fantastical.
2 Add an event location
Add an event on the calendar. Under the title, click Add Location and begin typing. Click your location from the options to add it to the event. You must click it – just typing the location will not work with Time to Leave alerts.
3 Custom leave time
Once you have added the event, double-click it and click Time to Leave next to the Alert box. You can choose from a list of times to be reminded of when to leave, or you can add a custom reminder if you prefer.
4 Check Contacts
Fantastical uses the locations on your My Card in the Contacts app. Open Contacts, find your card, click Edit and add an address, marking it as Home or Work accordingly. If required, click Card > Make This My Card.
5 Choose travel
Double-click the event, then click the downward arrow at the bottom to show more details. Click None next to Travel Time and choose your mode of transport. The default options are driving, on foot or public transport.
6 Custom travel time
If you do not think the travel times are correct, you can choose a set time from the list, or add a custom travel time. This is useful if your route is dependent on variable traffic and you want to err on the safe side for your journey time.
7 Local weather
In your Mac’s menu bar, click Fantastical > Preferences, then click the Weather tab and tick the ‘Show weather for’ checkbox. This should show your current location (if you have given Fantastical location permissions).
8 Destination weather
To see what the weather will be like at your destination, click the Change Location button and type a new location. Enter the nearest town or city rather than the full address, click it, then click Choose Location.
9 Get more details
Fantastical shows the weather forecast for each day at the top of the calendar view and in the sidebar. Click a weather icon to get more details, including daily and weekly temperatures, plus a weekly forecast.
