HOW TO Add more handy controls

-

1 How to see Control Centre

To view Control Centre on your iPad, swipe down from the top right of the screen. That works in both portrait and landscape mode. Be careful not to swipe too close to the centre or you’ll pull down the lock screen instead.

2 Customise content

Tap on Settings. Then tap Control Centre, followed by Customise Controls. To remove an item, tap the ‘–‘ next to it in the Include section. To add an item, tap the ‘+’ next to it under More Controls.

3 Change the order of items

You can’t change the order of the top section, but you can for the lower rows. Under Include, tap and hold on the three horizontal lines next to an item and then drag it up or down the change its place.

5 Change audio output device

Swipe down from the top right to pull down Control Centre. Tap the AirPlay button on the Music panel. You should see a list of options for connected devices. Tap the one you want and wait for it to connect.

7 Change text size

This is another really useful setting. Once you’ve added Text Size in Settings, you can tap on it in Control Centre and then drag the slider up or down to increase or reduce the size of text on screen.

4 Access within apps

You can choose whether to allow Control Centre to be accessed from within apps, perhaps to prevent accidentally invoking it. Tap Settings, then Control Centre. Toggle the Access Within Apps switch on or off.

6 Record your iPad’s screen

The only way to do this is from Control Centre. Invoke Control Centre, then tap the record button (if it’s not there, add it from Settings, as in step 2). Tap again to stop the recording. It will be saved to Photos.

8 Stream to a TV

You can mirror your iPad’s screen to an Apple TV or a compatible TV set from the likes of Samsung and LG. Tap the screen mirroring icon in Control Centre then choose the device you want to mirror the screen to.
