CONTINUED… Track your workouts with Watch
4 Set the scene
For some kinds of workout, such as the swimming goal we’re looking at here, you’ll need to confirm some info, like the length of the swimming pool, to accurately measure your progress and the distance you’ve travelled.
5 Set your criteria
You typically have three criteria to choose from: kilocalories, distance and time. Simply tap on the metric you want your Apple Watch to track and then tell it what your goal is. Here we’re setting a walking goal of two miles.
6 Start your workout
Once you’ve set everything, start your workout. Your watch gives you a countdown then switches to this view, which will show metrics specific to the workout you’re doing. On this walk, it’s tracking time, distance and calories.
7 Select the soundtrack
If you swipe from the right of your Apple Watch when you’re tracking a workout, you can change the soundtrack or skip through the boring bits of a podcast. Swipe from the left to go back to the workout tracker.
8 Reach the finish line
If you want to take a break or end your workout, swipe from the left and you’ll see the screen shown here. Lock engages your watch’s water lock feature for swimming, while Resume restarts your workout and End finishes it.
9 Adjust your Activity
The other key app on your Apple Watch is the Activity app, which you can have in many watch faces. The feature uses rings to track your movement, exercise and standing time against predefined goals.
Adjust your goals
You can change your daily goals at any time by going into Activity and scrolling all the way down to the bottom. Tap on Change Goals and you can then set your Move, Exercise and Stand goals to whatever you like.
Congratulate yourself
If you open the Watch app on your iPhone, you can also adjust motivational features, such as whether your watch will send you challenges or display a congratulatory notification when you close one of your goals rings.
Put it on your face
Apple has created several Apple Watch faces that put the Activity app right there on the main watch screen and it’s easy to customise and recolour them. If you prefer, you can use Activity as a Complication in faces such as Infograph.
