Add your own ringtone

-

It may not seem as if you can create your own ringtone for iOS, but it is possible. You need an audio file less than 30 seconds long in M4A format, which you can make on iTunes on your Mac. Select the song you want to use, then rightclick and choose Get Info. In the Options tab, set the start and stop times to match the portion you want to use. Close this window and go to File > Convert > Create AAC Version. You’ll get a new file that’s the length you selected (you can set the original back to normal). Next, manually change the file extension of this new file from “.m4a” to “.m4r” – this is Apple’s ringtone format. You’ll need to sync your iPhone or iPad with iTunes to transfer the file (or use an app such as iMazing 2), and it will then be available in the Sounds menu in Settings. Ringtones you’ve installed appear at the top of the ringtones list.
