If the receiver’s an iOS device and the sender can’t see it, try the Everyone option. Personal Hotspot (Settings > Mobile Data) mustn’t be active. “Block all incoming connections” in a Mac’s firewall (p33) prevents AirDrop receipt. Toggling Wi-Fi can fix devices’ inability to see each other.
