Lock it down with Restrictions

-

Go to Settings > General > Restrictions on your iPhone or iPad and you’ll find options to limit certain aspects of your device. Some of these relate to things such as what content you’d like your kids to be allowed to access, while others relate to privacy.

First, you’ll be asked to set up a passcode for Restrictions, so they can’t be turned on or off at will. Make sure you don’t forget it! At the top you’ll see the ability to turn off access to some built-in apps and features, mostly to do with communication. Below that are options to disable stores and things like In-App Purchases. Under that, you can set content-ratings limits for different media types. Then comes the big list of privacy options – you can stop an app from changing your settings for certain kinds of data by tapping on it, as well as rescind the ability of individual apps to see your information. The options range from obvious stuff such as your contacts and location, right down to your Facebook account and mic access.
