TxtBck’s got your (text) back

Perhaps we’re just not hanging out with the right people, but they don’t seem to really text that much any more. Facebook Messenger, Twitter DMs, Slack, and WhatsApp seem far more useful than SMS and iMessage, perhaps because they’re easier to talk to people in other countries, or switch devices.

But here is an app made for people who do use the Messages app – and its sole purpose is to remind you to text back. Trying to figure out the exact situation that would require specifically this app, and not just the iPhone’s built-in Reminders, is a little difficult.

The app is integrated with iMessage, so if you enable it, you can copy messages and set reminders right there and then. This is useful, but the amount of steps it takes is pretty much the same as setting a regular reminder. You can use TxtBck as its own standalone app, too, but it’s quite limited, even though you can have reminders pop up at certain times or locations, and can categorize them by Family, Friends, Work and so on.

No doubt this app will be exactly what someone needs – someone who will forget about a text as soon as they close the Messages app – but it just seems like something of a chore. For anyone who has the “Storage almost full” notification constantly popping up – which is probably all of us – it isn’t particularly worth the memory. the bottom line. It does the thing it’s supposed to, but do you really need an app for that?

?? ?? The interface is a little too simplistic to be helpful, but it gets the job done.
