Pin favorite sites

You can pin tabs for sites you use often so that they’re immediatel­y accessible in any Safari window that has the tab bar visible. Either ≈- click on a tab and choose Pin Tab, or drag a tab to the far left of the bar.

The Favorites Bar

Choose View > Favorites Bar, then visit a site, click in the address bar and drag the site’s icon to the bar to pin a shortcut there. In Safari‘s General prefs, new tabs can be set to show your favorites, which appear as icons.

Share web pages

Click the Share button and you can add the current page to your reading list for later perusal (access this list in Safari by pressing ≈+ç+2), add it to your bookmarks, or send it to a number of other services.

Show all tabs

When you click this button you’ll get a visual overview of the tabs open in the same Safari window, and also a list of tabs open on your other devices which are signed into the same iCloud account.

Quieten noisy tabs

If a tab is playing sound, you can mute it by clicking the speaker icon on that tab, or the one in the address bar. If the latter is shown as an outline rather than solid, clicking it will mute all tabs.

Strip away clutter

On a page with lots of body text, click the paragraph icon at the address bar’s left end to switch to Reader and see only the vital text and images. Click ‘aA’ at the bar’s other end to adjust presentati­on.
