When it comes to mobile DJ apps, Algoriddim’s popular djay rightfully receives a great deal of praise – but it’s far from the only game in town.

edjing Mix is one of the most downloaded DJ apps, presumably because it’s free to install, with a wide variety of in-app purchases for anyone who wants to do more than the basics. (You can also earn “vinyls” – a form of virtual currency like coins – for performing various tasks like linking a Facebook account.)

On Apple Watch, edjing Mix provides an impressive amount of control over your mixes. You can access the beats per minute (BMP) of each track and sync the pair of virtual turntables, control four different audio effects, and even start transitions between the two source tunes.

The Watch app offers a total of five different screens: A mix screen to monitor the playback of each turntable; Pitch controls; Automix for a more automated approach; Record for capturing a live mix to reuse later; and FX, where you can add Delay, Echo, Filter, or Flanger effects with one tap.

Everything is impressively responsive on watchOS, and the combination of iPhone and Apple Watch controls means you won’t have to carry around a larger iPad to commandeer impromptu jam sessions anymore. You’ll also have potential access to millions of music tracks, thanks to support for your device’s music library, iCloud Drive, SoundCloud, Deezer, Google Drive, or Dropbox; sadly,

if you’re an Apple Music subscriber you can’t import tracks that you don’t already own outright.

the bottom line. A faithful DJ app that allows Apple Watch owners to get in on the fun of remixing music from their wrist.
