Working with photography usually means you expect a lot from a computer. You’ll need something that’s powerful enough to quickly edit your shots, but easy enough to carry around to shoots and locations.

The MacBook Pro fits the bill. It’s got plenty of power, with either an i5 or i7 processor to power your photo edits speedily and efficiently. Its screen is bright and beautiful too, and the best models feature a Touch Bar, which enables quick edits with the tap or slide of a finger. All that squeezed into a light, slimline chassis makes it an ideal choice to carry out on location.

We’ve included a range of devices here that will make perfecting your images a breeze. It’s essential that your photos look as good in print as they do on screen, so we’ve picked out a great display and quality colorimeter. A graphics tablet will help you get creative quickly, plus we’ve included a couple of expansion devices so you never have to worry about not being able to connect your cards and cameras to the USB-C ports.

Photo editing requires top-notch color accuracy. In our tests, this brilliant display managed 92% of the Adobe RGB color space, which is a rare thing indeed. It uses a vertical alignment (VA) panel technology, which means you’ll need to sit face-on to see colors and contrast accurately. However, given the mammoth 31.5‑inch screen size, you’ll want to sit back a comfortable distance from the display anyway, which should help with that.

The display’s 4K (3840x2160-pixel) resolution gives you acres of screen space to dive down into the details of your photos, making this a great choice for photography work. The difference that 4K makes compared to panels with a low pixel density really is immense.

There’s more. Despite being so large, it’s easy to adjust the tilt, swivel, and height to get the display exactly how you need it.

The display also features a range of input options, including HDMI 2.0, DVI, and DisplayPort. You can connect a good range of your USB devices to the display, rather than your Mac, thanks to a range of USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports.
