Security questions

Add a second level of defense to keep your Apple ID under your control

-

>>> When you create an Apple ID, you select three security questions, such as the name of your best friend in school, and enter answers. These questions are useful for gaining access to your account if you forget your Apple ID’s password – go to

iforgot.apple.com. You may also need to answer them to sign in at appleid.apple.com.

If you forget the answers to your questions, you’ll need to know your Apple ID’s password to reset them. At the former site, go through the steps to “Reset your Apple ID” by email.

Once you know your current password, go to

appleid.apple.com and sign in. Under Security, click Change Questions to select new questions and answers.

When setting up your Apple ID, ideally write down the answers to your security questions somewhere safe, but if you find remembering security questions too much of a headache, you can use two-factor authentication, which sends a verification code to your registered (and hence trusted) devices to confirm your identity. There’s a guide to this at the end of this feature.
