Family Sharing

Share with your family, or maintain access to an old Apple ID’s purchases

-

>>> If you sign in to the iTunes Store or App Store using a new Apple ID, you’ll lose the ability to download previously purchased content from your old Apple ID. Family Sharing is a way for up to six people using different Apple IDs to share their previous and future purchases. Or, if you have an Apple ID you don’t use anymore, you can use Family Sharing to access content that you bought using that ID.

In System Preferences > iCloud, make sure you’re signed in with your new Apple ID, then click “Set up Family.” Follow the on‑screen instructions to create a family group. Once this is done, return to System Preferences > iCloud and click Manage Family. Click the + button to add a family member, then enter your old Apple ID. Enter the password for your old ID to link it to your family group.

Go to the iTunes Store or App Store to view and download purchased content – not just from the Apple ID you’re currently signed in to, but for any of the IDs used by family members, which include your old one. Note that not all apps can be downloaded this way – check an app’s info summary on its App Store page to see if it’s eligible for Family Sharing.
