Invoke Split View
Open a blank tab
In Safari, hold a finger on the Show All Tabs icon (two overlapping squares) until a pop-up menu appears. Pick Open Split View to split the screen in two – your current page on the left, and your home page on the right.
Open another pane
If you want to open a link to an interesting page alongside what you’re already viewing, hold a finger on it, then choose Open in Split View from the pop-up menu. The new page opens on the right side of the screen.
Convert tab
If you’ve got two tabs open already, switch them to split-screen view by dragging one down off the tab bar and then to the right or left edge of the screen. Let go when the main view shrinks a little.
