A Split view

In macOS Sierra, Mail in full-screen mode wouldn’t easily let you compose an email and refer back to your inbox. High Sierra instead utilizes its own version of Split View, opening a tabbed compose area on its right-hand side.

C Top hits

Search in Mail is now faster, but also, more importantly, a bit smarter. The most relevant messages Mail finds are placed at the top of the list, under “Top Hits.” And the more you search, the smarter this new system gets.

B Space saver

This improvement isn’t necessarily easy to see, but if your Mac’s startup disk is an SSD, it’ll use a new filing system, and changes to how it stores files mean that if you have many attachments, say, High Sierra might save you lots of space.

D Inbox shortcuts

Just like Safari, Mail has a shortcuts bar (View > Favorites Bar), to which you can drag often-used mailboxes. Press Cmd and a number (1 to 9) to open a folder (1 being the leftmost one), or Ctrl+Cmd and a number to move what’s selected.
