Share your stuff

iCloud makes sharing easy – here’s how

-

To help coordinate your life with other people, you can share calendars using iCloud. Open Calendar on your Mac, Ctrl-click a calendar in the sidebar and either check the box beside Public Calendar (if you’re happy for anyone with the link to see a read-only version), or enter a contact’s email address on the line above to send them a link.

To switch between view-only and editing permissions, click the person’s name and pick the appropriate option from the pop-up menu. To share from your iPhone or iPad, tap Calendars on the bottom bar, then the ‘i’ beside the calendar name. Tap ‘Add person’ and enter their details.

If you’ve enabled Family Sharing on one of the two top-tier iCloud account upgrades (see How Much Storage, p18), everyone in the family will automatically have access to a shared Family calendar. They can unsubscribe if they want but – so long as they remain part of the family group – they can add events, of which the family organizer will receive notifications.

Find My Friends is also likely to be of interest to family members, enabling them to share their location. Open the Find My Friends app on an iOS device, tap Me at the bottom and ensure Share My Location is enabled, and This Device is checked on the device you’ll be carrying with you. Tap Done, then Add, and enter the email addresses of all the people you want your location to be shared with. Ask them to do the same thing and you’ll be able to track each other through this iOS app or the Find Friends web app at iCloud.com.

?? ?? With Share My Location turned on, you can keep track of the whereabouts of your loved ones.
