Create a Fusion Drive

-

Got an older Mac that needs a speed boost? If it has a spare USB 3.0 or faster port, you can give it a speed boost by adding an external SSD, which you can even turn into a DIY Fusion Drive if you want the benefit of having all your files look like they’re on one drive in Finder. See ‘Make your own Fusion Drive,’ ML113 (April 2016). Note that both drives must always be present, so make sure you don’t disconnect the external SSD.
