Reminders, Shortcuts, and more
If your mobile storage needs decluttering too, start here…
THE BUILT–IN APPS in iOS 13 are full of improvements and new features. Reminders has been overhauled, we’ve already shown you some great new additions in Mail, and Safari has been greatly improved, too. Shortcuts is now installed by default and much more powerful. And Siri and Voice Control are much improved as well.
1 Lists of Reminders
To create a new List, open Reminders, tap Add List and give it a name. Choose a color and an icon. Tap Done. To create a group of lists, tap and hold on a list and drag it over another to be included in the group. Give the group a name.
2 Remind when messaging
Locate the reminder you want to be flagged when messaging and tap the “I” to the right of it. Look near the bottom of the screen for “Remind me when messaging” and switch it on. Tap Choose Person then tap a contact’s name.
3 Screenshot the full length of a web page
Open Safari and navigate to a web page. Use the buttons for your device that take a screenshot. When the preview appears, tap it, then tap Full Page. You can use the tools at the bottom to annotate it, or the slider at the right to preview. Tap Done when you’re ready.
4 Change text size on a web page
In Safari, on any web page, tap on the “AA” in the address bar. Use the “+” and “–” to increase and decrease the size of text on the page. You can also show reader view from here, as well as request the desktop site, hide the toolbar, and go to Website Settings.
5 Downloads in Safari
Navigate to a web page with a file you want to download and tap on it. Tap Download. When it’s done, tap the Downloads button in the toolbar and tap on it to preview it. Or tap on the
magnifying glass to see the file in the Downloads folder in the Files app.
6 Use Quick Type
Open any app that takes text input. Put your finger on the keyboard and drag it over the letters you want to type. Confirm the word in the suggestions toolbar. To edit, tap and hold on the pointer and drag it anywhere in a document.
7 Create a Memoji sticker
In Message, tap in the text box and tap the Memoji button. Tap the More button (…) and choose New Memoji. Choose from the options to create your Memoji sticker. Tap Done. You’ll see your Memoji in different poses in the stickers menu.
8 Sign in with Apple
On any website that supports the feature, tap the “Sign in with Apple” button. Simply check the details displayed and tap Continue, or tap on “Hide my email” to quickly create a one–time email address. Then just authenticate with FaceID, TouchID or your passcode and you’re done.
