HOW TO Personalize Apple News
Edit your sources
In iOS, open the News app and tap the Following tab to see a list of channels, topics, and Siri suggestions. To add one to your feed, then tap the Follow button to its right. Tap again to unfollow. Or tap Edit to remove an item.
Improve suggestions
A right–swipe on a story on your feed gives a Suggest Less option; swiping left brings up Suggest More. They’re also available in the bottom of the story (as a thumbs up or thumbs down icon).
View a channel
If you find a channel you like, you can tap on the logo at the top of the story to go to the channel’s home page, where you can see more content. Tap the More Options (…) button top– right to follow or block the channel.
View history
If you want to revisit a story, go to the Following tab. Below the search bar you will see History. Tap on this to view all the stories you have seen. You can tap the Clear button (top–right) to clear your history.
Subscribe to News+
Tap on the News+ tab on the bottom of the app. Tap the Start Trial button and sign in with your Apple ID. After the first month, you will be billed monthly. You can cancel your subscription at any time.
Save stories
With an Apple News+ subscription, you can save stories for offline reading. Swipe left on a story from the feed and tap the Save button. This button can also be accessed from the Share button inside a story.
Browse Apple News+
At the top, a horizontal scroll bar lets you view magazines by feature or topic. Below that are the latest editions you’re subscribed to. You’ll also see a curated list of stories from other channels.
Manage notifications
Tap the Following tab and scroll to the bottom of the page. Tap Manage, then Notifications for a list of the channels you follow. Tap the switch to enable or disable your notifications per channel.
Read a magazine
Tap on a magazine cover to open it; you will be taken to the lead story. Swipe right to access the previous story, or left for the next. Tapping the cover in the bottom–left corner takes you to the contents page.
