Pixelmator Photo is a highly capable photo editor for iPad that can deal with RAW as well as compressed image formats, hooks into your Photo library, and has access to the Files app for importing via USB or the cloud. The 1.2 update, which is free for existing users, adds some major new core functionality. First up is support for the trackpad and mouse cursor in iPad OS. Adding a Bluetooth trackpad or mouse — from Apple or elsewhere — transforms the app’s workflow. It’s faster to move around the workspace and changes are easier to make in small steps. It’s a win all round. Support for Split View is next, which some users will doubtless find useful. Diving into the tools, the extensive machine learning has been expanded to the new Match feature, which lets you transfer the look and feel of one image straight to another. A new Intensity slider gives you more control over your color edits, and an auto–generated list of recent presets saves time too. Copy and Paste of adjustments between photos is also new and arguably a little overdue, and you can now share images from the browser without having to open them. Pixelmator Photo’s new features, especially cursor support, ensure this

popular app retains its place as one of the very best ways to work with your photos on iPad.

THE BOTTOM LINE. Slick, powerful and with cursor and trackpad support, the updated Pixelmator Photo is an excellent way to edit photos on iPad.
