Ripton. A Cosy sort of town before Viktor Zuev came to stay. His thugs terrified the mayor, paid off the cops, and danced on the fingers of anyone who held out. They run this place now, and no one stands in their way. Now, if you can find them, one group of former police officers continues to uphold the law, and some sort of justice. They are the Rebel Cops.

They take turns, these cops, almost like there’s some sorta strategy to it. They’d rather arrest Zuev’s goons than shoot ’em or stab ’em — affects their street cred, see — know their way round a baton and ain’t afraid to get busy with a taser. And if a cop or a bad guy does get shot, there’s four hit locations that affect how fast they bleed out, and a headshot is instant goodnight. But the goons got armor, if they can afford it, and arrested perps vanish, whereas dead men lay around telling tales.

The touchscreen interface is nicely integrated into the world: these wheels come up, like revolvers, let you choose your piece or your shank. You burst through the windows, rescue the hostages, pop the bad guys, unlock perks. Oh, you wanna put them in the cooler? Then you gotta get close. Ain’t as easy as it looks. Maybe have another go. You might have to take out a few of your own along the way. Comes with the job.

These Rebel Cops got it going on. So be a wise guy (or the gendered epithet of your choice) and check it out. Capiche?

THE BOTTOM LINE. Turn–based strategy, with all the moral gray areas you could want.

?? ?? We could take a chance and try to arrest the bad guy, or just shoot them. Decisions…
