Apple TV+ success

-

> APPLE TV+ HAS received 52 Emmy Award nominations across 13 titles, compared to 35 nominations last year. The second season of global hit Ted Lasso was most nominated comedy series for the second year in a row with 20 nominations total (the same as last year), and the widely celebrated drama Severance had 14, including the first Outstanding Drama Series nomination for Apple TV+.

However, it was Hulu that saw the biggest rise with 58 nominations, up from 26 last year, and HBO/HBO Max had the most nominations with 140. As for shows, HBO Max’s Succession had the most nominations, with 25.

The winners of the 74th Emmy Awards will be announced at a televised ceremony on September 12.

Of course, Apple TV+ offers a much smaller library than its rivals, so its nomination rate attests to its quality. So did a survey of streaming services by personal finance company Self Financial, Inc, which found that AppleTV+ has the highest average IMDb score for its streaming library (7.08/10), for the 2nd year running. This beats all its rivals — HBO Max (6.88), Hulu (6.72), Disney+ (6.71), Netflix (6.62), and Prime Video (6.62). Apple TV+ even beat Disney+ as highest–rated streaming platform for kids (age 7 and under), with an average IMDb rating of 7.34 for kids’ content compared to Disney+’s 6.63, but Disney+ comes out on top for value with over 1,139 shows suitable for kids, compared to Apple TV+’s 38.

For similar reasons, Self stated that Netflix offers the best value for money, with 6,475 titles. Even factoring in IMDb ratings, it said, “Netflix offers the most titles of ‘Excellent’ quality (795), followed by HBO Max (463).”
