I recently sat down with Microsoft’s Peter Orullian, to talk about Game Mode and Beam, the new gamingfocused features shipping with the Windows 10 Creators Update. The idea behind Game Mode—improving game performance—is good, but it will be tricky to test on our benches, because it’s designed for mainstream machines that come stuffed with bloatware and clutter. When we test, we ensure there aren’t any background tasks throwing off the numbers, but we’ll endeavor to find a suitable machine to showcase what it can do. Beam, meanwhile, is a competitor to Twitch, and broadcasting after the update looks super-easy to achieve. We’ll have more on both soon.
