AOC PDS241

- –ZAK STOREY

THIS SCREEN is truly something to behold. A design unlike any other on the market. Don’t let its paltry 1080p resolution fool you—the AOC PDS241 is an absolutely stunning piece of craftsmanship.

As far as AOC was concerned, teaming up with Porsche was a logical move. The supercar company has built a number of bespoke products in the past, and it made sense to have the German firm join in on this professional series of screens, too.

The story of the PDS241’s conception is outstanding. According to AOC, Porsche came into its offices, sat AOC’s entire design staff down, and schooled them on what the perfect screen should be. According to Porsche, it’s a single panel, floating in the air, with no cables, no frame, no bezel—nothing.

It sounds insane at first—both that a car company told AOC how to design a monitor, and the very concept. But from that surprising partnership comes this outstanding and unconventional panel, and who are we to argue with that?

1 IPS Perfection

This is no slacker when it comes to panel quality. What you’re looking at is a full HD 24-inch IPS panel, with a 4ms response time, and 100 percent sRGB and 90 percent NTSC color gamut coverage. It’s not a 140Hz monster, but for the pro, it’s damn near perfect.

2 Cable-Free?

AOC has done away with the clutter on this beautifully crisp display, by using a pass-through on this sweet curved metal stand. One cable comes out here, fitting into a PSU block with power and HDMI inputs, so you can hide it under your desk.

3 World’s Thinnest

AOC is touting this as the world’s thinnest screen. Thanks to the I/O being relegated to a passthrough hub, the LCD panel itself can be made exceptionally thin—just 5.2mm, in fact.
