RYZEN 7 1700
Here we are back with a gem of a processor once more. AMD’s Ryzen has transformed the marketplace. We’ve not seen competition like this since the early 2000s—and that’s no bad thing. Intel’s response with the X299 platform, including its four-core i5 processors on the 2066 socket, seems to be a knee-jerk reaction, and the price drops, although impressive, still lack substance compared to the forthcoming Threadripper, and even the current generation of Ryzen chips. The 1700 is still the best-value chip right now, especially if you’re looking at any serious workstation application. $ 310, www.amd.com
