2017 TASMANIAN MEDIA AWARDS
TasWeekend took out two of the 12 categories at this year’s Tasmanian Media Awards in Hobart last Friday.
TasWeekend reporter Sally Glaetzer won the prize for best feature, documentary or current affairs for our Port Arthur massacre anniversary coverage, and the award for best comment and analysis based on three features:
Fight Club, about ongoing local Government issues; Growing Pains on forestry; and Up and at ‘em about GetUp!’s involvement in the Federal election. Of the Port Arthur massacre anniversary feature, the judges commented: “Good feature writing, like all good journalism, helps the community, the reader or watcher, with good conversation about important matters. Sally Glaetzer achieves that here.”
