The village of Rogerville, 2.5km north of Bridgewater, was all but wiped out by one of the many fires across southern Tasmania on Black Tuesday, 1967. “Cobber” Rogers was a member of the eponymous family living there and has provided several photos, including this one of the Rogerville petrol station and residence prior to the bushfire, from his collection. There was only one house left standing after the fire, and this burned down some time later. DAMIAN BESTER
