ANDREW MORGAN CO-FOUNDER OF HYDROWOOD

I am happiest when … I’m with my mates fly-fishing in the Central Highlands of Tasmania. You wouldn’t know it but … I’m a closet computer-gamer. I love my PlayStation. My most embarrassing moment is … probably going to come after this interview. The last time I cried was … saying goodbye to my cat Bengal. He’d been with me since uni days. The last book I read was… Game of Thrones. I love the TV series and it was time to read the source material. My favourite films are … The Shawshank

Redemption and any of the Star Wars films except Episode I. I really want to … travel more with my wife and kids. We travelled a lot before children and I want them to experience the amazing diversity of cultures and landscapes, too. My guilty

pleasure is … a weekend afternoon nap, with two young children it’s a rarity these days. Life has

taught me … you need patience and hard work to build a business, and not to take yourself too seriously. My most memorable moment was … seeing the first log being successfully harvested from beneath Lake Pieman. To take an idea proposed by my Hydrowood business partner, David, and turn it into reality was a moment of pride but also of great relief. Join Andrew Morgan at Undisciplined, a Creative Island event on next week. Morgan will speak on the topic of ‘Unconventional: underwater logging’ at the Boardwalk Gallery, Wrest Point, next Saturday at 9.30am. 410 Sandy Bay Rd, Sandy Bay. A one-day pass costs $180; and a full festival pass is $380, or $300 for concession. To buy tickets, visit creativeisland.com.au
