FIRST PERSON

JIMEOIN COMEDIAN

-

I was happiest when … I was 14 – when exams weren’t hard and school was fun. At about 4pm, before the news at the cartoon time of day. You wouldn’t know it but … I’m going to Tasmania to go on tour as a comic and tell jokes for a living. My most embarrassing moment … way too embarrassing to tell, still coming to terms with it. The last time I cried was … reading a book. I cry a lot on my own watching movies or listening to music. And I love it. The last book I read was … Striking Back. A book about an Irish girl at 21 who in a lot of ways helped bring an end to the apartheid system in South Africa. My favourite films are … good ones. Really good ones. I really want to … finish this questionnaire and get up the road. I’m in Ireland at the minute on holidays. My guilty pleasure is … guilt itself, or so it seems. If I’m not guilty I’m not doing it right. Life has taught me … that it doesn’t go on forever. I’m about to … wet the bed if I don’t finish this questionnaire and go to the toilet. My first job was … butcher boy delivering meat on a push bike. My most memorable work-related moment is … doing Edinburgh Fringe this year for the 25th time. What I enjoy most about my work is … making people laugh. Honestly, the gig itself is the best part of it. I live for it. See Jimeoin perform his new show The Ridiculous at Wrest Point’s Plenary Hall on Friday, September 21 at 8pm. Tickets are $51 adults, $46 concession. wrestpoint.com.au
