FIRST PERSON
TOM WOLFE
MUSICIAN
I am happiest … at home with my wife and family on the farm or making music with the band. You wouldn’t know it but … I have a peanut allergy and hate spiders. My most embarrassing moment … I think possibly crashing my brother’s old Holden ute into the back of a car going uphill probably takes it. Everyone was fine, just turns out the guy I crashed into was the dad of a friend from high school. The last time I cried was … being a Carlton Football Club supporter. Unfortunately it is more often than I would like. The last book I read was … Keith Richards’ Life. I’m a massive Rolling Stones fan – I got to take my Dad to see them in Australia before my Dad passed. It was very special. I still marvel that Keith Richards is still alive. My favourite films are … everything from The Castle and Pulp Fiction to Goodfellas. I love Scorsese and Tarantino films. And The Castle – do I need to explain how good that is? My guilty pleasure is … cheese, I love cheese. Oh and Cascade Lager is pretty damn good. Life has taught me … you gotta know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ‘em. I’m about to … spend time at home on the farm before going back on tour. My first job was … as an apprentice carpenter with Fairbrother. They were really good to me, took me on straight out of high school. Taught me about the trade, I got my ticket and a few valuable life skills. I owe them a lot, they were happy to see me resign and chase the music dream. What I enjoy most about my work is … playing live. I guess you could analyse it and say it’s making people happy.
