KATE CEBERANO SINGER

-

I was happiest when ... I was about eight years old and my family went to Hawaii to meet our family there. We stayed several months, attended school and was invited to sit in with a hula school. It was for “Hawaiian blood“only but they made an exception for me since my aunty was Hawaiian. I cried happy tears with the beauty of it all. You wouldn’t know it but … I’m a craft nerd. I knit, sew, crochet, paint, adore fine fabric and collect vintage lace. My most embarrassing moment … was exclaiming loudly to a filmmaker, “Whoever shot that music video should be shot”. He said, “I did!” The last time I cried was … watching Anne with an E. It was so achingly beautiful. It reminded me of my grandma and the simplicity of life before social media and TV. The last book I read was … I re-read Anna Karenina. My favourite films are … Sophie’s Choice, Somewhere in Time, Blade Runner and Being There. I really want to … run my own record label and production unit for fashion, music and artists. My guilty pleasure is … expensive dresses and shoes. Life has taught me … good things come to those who wait. I’m about to … launch my first festival. My first job was … coffee pulling at the Black Cat Cafe [in Melbourne]. What I enjoy most about my work is … I get to do what I love while being able to help get my kid through school, contribute to my family and group around me, the band, musicians and the greater community.
