CRESSY GARDEN OPENS

-

Historic and very beautiful Richmond Hill garden at Cressy is open next Saturday (March 30, from 2pm) for a family fundraising event for the Rural Relief Fund. Proceeds will help support those affected by drought and recent bush fires.

Richmond Hill dates back to a 100-acre land grant made in 1809 to James Brumby. He received the grant on the Macquarie River after his discharge from the British army. James built a cottage and then in 1811 the Georgian-style stone farmhouse. After many changes of ownership, Richmond Hill now belongs to the Moses family. It has an impressive and beautifully tended garden, which in autumn features clipped box hedges and garden beds filled with lavender, perennials and beautiful pink Chinese lanterns. Explore the garden, enjoy afternoon tea or an evening buffet and soak up the atmosphere of this historic property. Activities will be set around the fountain and formal garden beside the old stone granary.

Tickets for entry and afternoon tea (2pm5pm) are $25 per person. To enjoy the buffet meal (5pm-8pm) tickets are $45 per person. For the full afternoon and evening, tickets are $60 per person. Book at Trybookings (www.trybooking.com/BBCXU). Richmond Hill is at 1097 Cressy Rd, Cressy.
