ALEX WILLIAMSON

- COMEDIAN

I was happiest when … I hadn’t torn my family apart with my substance abuse. You wouldn’t know it but … the above answer was actually a joke. My most embarrassing moment … Probably decking myself out for my school’s casual day in what I thought were the ‘hottest threads’ until everyone immediately recognised my clothes from the sales rack at Kmart. The last time I cried was … when Sir Donald Bradman died. I was only six months old. The last book I read was … A Distant Mirror by Barbara Tuchman, it’s got lots of big words, but I like a challenge. My favourite films are … documentaries. I really want to … try to live the rest of my life without ever using the letter ‘B’ to see if I can do it. My guilty pleasure is … burritos. Life has taught me … to spend 20 minutes every day thinking about all the horrible regrets you have until you start talking to yourself and wanting to slap your own face. It’s good for the soul. I’m about to … go on the run for the next eight years hiding from the Australian Tax Office. My first job was … eating rocks in the playground. Someone gave me 50c to do it, which was minimum wage back in primary school. My most memorable work-related moment is … Having Sacha Baron Cohen find my videos and fly me to LA to help promote one of his films. What I enjoy most about my work is … Getting to see parts of Australia no one would ever see. Like Hobart. Just kidding, I mean more like Mount Isa (don’t go).

Alex Williamson will perform at Hobart’s Theatre Royal on Sunday November 24 at 8pm. Tickets are $35. theatreroyal.com.au
