TRAVEL PLAN
FROM Lake St. Clair to Freycinet, the Bay of Fires to the Three Capes Track, Tasmania is awash with gorgeous holiday destinations — and the chance to visit one of them for free has just launched.
Local real estate agency LJ Hooker Glenorchy is offering Tasmanians the chance to win a $5000 RACT travel voucher in its Rediscover Tasmania campaign.
Every sales or rental appraisal undertaken by LJ Hooker Glenorchy between July 1 and September 30 will go into the draw to win.
LJ Hooker Glenorchy managing director Penny Higgs, pictured, said the campaign was in line with the State Government’s Make Yourself at Home campaign, and that the concept of the competition was to help struggling
Tasmanian businesses postCOVID-19 by encouraging locals to holiday at home safely.
She said early feedback on the competition had been positive.
“Personally, I would love to revisit Pumphouse Point on Lake St Clair because it’s the perfect combination of wilderness, history and luxury,”she said.
“However, there are so many wonders to see here in Tasmania and every person that gets their property appraised through us will have the chance to go and experience it for themselves,”
Penny said the time was right to get back to business and open new doors, while also lending a hand to the community.
She said while LJ Hooker was closed during COVID restrictions, the team took the time to look at what they wanted to do post-COVID.
“We felt that with so many people confined to their homes, many might

“We linked this to the huge impact COVID had on the Tasmanian tourism sector and came up with the idea of helping those businesses, help people rediscover their home state and assist people with their property needs.
“As a local Tasmanian business, the saying ‘We are all in this together’ rings true; so, if we can help other Tasmanian businesses, while reinvigorating our own business by helping people find their next property, then we are taking a step in the right direction for our state’s recovery.”
In the past few months, the housing
market experienced a softening, with the number of properties sold dropping by 5.3 per cent, compared to the same time last year. Penny said this was predominantly driven by a lack of homes on the market for sale.
“The property market in Hobart is slowly recovering, but while our borders are closed people are still waiting to see what will happen — and so stock levels are low,” she said.
“Buyer interest remains high, particularly at lower price points, while some higher-priced properties are staying on the market for longer.
“With the new building incentives, we are also seeing a strong demand for land, which we expect to increase over the coming months.”
The prize will be drawn electronically and randomly on October 1.
