Day for Hawks fans to lend a hand

- JAMES BRESNEHAN

HAWTHORN has an imposing winning record in Tasmania and Hawks fans will have twice the reason to high-five each other at Aurora Stadium tomorrow.

Hawks fans, and Fremantle supporters too, are being asked to get to the ground earlier to take part in a Guinness World Record attempt for the longest high-five chain ever seen.

The world record was set by a group at Indiana State University last year.

Hawthorn needs 1648 people to beat that, and the Tasmanian Hawthorn Supporters Group is only too happy to “slip some skin” and set a new record.

“It’s a pretty cool thing to be part of and it’s going to support Give Me Five For Kids, so it’s also for a great cause,” said Hawks support group leader Brett Archer.

The 40-year-old from Hobart said Hawks fans loved having access to four home-and-away and a NAB Challenge game in Tasmania each year.

“It’s great because we are all passionate about the Hawks so we love them being here,” Archer said.

“I go to all the games. We all go to all the games, and the more games the merrier.”

Fans can assemble at the ground at 1pm, give a gold coin donation, and help set a world record.
