Mistakes will cost

AUSTRALIA’S largest private health insurer has put hospitals on notice that it will no longer pay for their mistakes. Medibank Private said its days as a “passive payer” for treatment resulting from substandard hospital care or medical errors were over. Hospital groups renegotiating their contracts were being asked to accept new quality criteria to ensure they, not Medibank, foot the bill in such cases.
