Roos have Charlotte on the hop

NORTH Melbourne footballers have been quizzed about life as an AFL player during the club’s first Tasmania camp for 2017.

A small group of players, including Tasmanians Ben Brown and Mitch Hibberd, captain Jack Ziebell and defender Sam Durdin, got amongst activities at Mount Carmel College in Sandy Bay and Taroona Primary School yesterday.

At Mount Carmel the players fielded questions from eager young football fans before taking to the basketball court for some rather comical dodge ball.

“They’re only just starting with their football careers or maybe just starting to show a bit of interest,” Durdin said.

“So to tell them what it’s like to hit the highest level, the feeling we get and what we’ve accomplished will give them a bit of inspiration as well.”

The players then moved on to Taroona Primary to spread the Bicycle Network Tasmania bike safety message.

Bicycle Network’s Garry Bailey said getting AFL heroes to schools to promote bike safety was a positive outcome.

“We want partnerships with sporting organisations because they’re into health and wellbeing,” Mr Bailey said.

The Kangaroos will hold another community camp later this year with 3500 students.
