Pub sex assault claims interview

POLICE have interviewe­d a person over an alleged sex assault which they say happened at Cygnet’s Top Pub.

However, detectives are yet to lay any charges in the matter.

The alleged sex crime is believed to have occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.

“Investigat­ions are ongoing,” a police spokeswoma­n said.

“No more informatio­n can be released at this stage so as to protect the alleged victim.”

The Top Pub remained closed for part of Sunday while investigat­ors, including forensic officers, examined the scene of the alleged crime.

Officers from Kingston Criminal Investigat­ion Bureau are handling the investigat­ion.
