That’s funny, comedy’s on the move

- KANE YOUNG

WHY travel interstate for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, when some of the festival’s funniest acts will bring the laughs direct to you?

After stops in Launceston on Wednesday night and Devonport on Thursday night, the annual MICF Roadshow rolled into Hobart yesterday with some familiar faces on board the tour bus, including TV favourite Cal Wilson, veteran comic and actor Bob Franklin, and versatile indigenous entertainer Sean Choolburra.

They’ve all toured Tasmania in the past but it’s the first trip south for rising star Sam Taunton, whose show Taunts Down For What recently saw him nominated for the festival’s best newcomer award.

“The roadshow is great because people are doing the best parts of their shows, so it’s all the gold,” he said.

“Audiences never get bored of an act, because you bang out a quick 20 and then the next act comes on.”

The roadshow continues at the Theatre Royal from 7.30pm today. Tickets are $50-$60, phone 6233 2299 for bookings.
