Man cut free from Toyota

A DRIVER has been cut free from a car and taken to hospital with serious leg injuries after a two-vehicle crash at Orielton in southern Tasmania.

Emergency crews were called to the Tasman Highway scene shortly after 10am yesterday when a Toyota Camry and a fuel truck collided.

The Toyota driver, a 33-year-old NSW man, suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital for treatment after he was freed from his vehicle. The truck driver, a 40year-old Chigwell man, was not injured.

Police said the truck was not carrying a load at the time of the crash.

Police officers from Richmond and Sorell attended the scene.

Investigat­ions are continuing into the cause of the crash.

Traffic on the Tasman Highway near Orielton was disrupted for several hours while the scene was cleared.
