Marsh to ply his trade interstate
FORMER Tigers coach Dan Marsh will head interstate to seek further coaching opportunities, his replacement Adam Griffith has revealed.
Marsh was axed by Cricket Tasmania in February despite having more than a year to run on his contract.
Griffith, who has signed a three-year deal with the Tigers, and Marsh are past teammates and close friends, and the two caught up recently.
“I think Dan is a very good coach in his own right,” Griffith said. “We had a chat about where he’s moving to in the future. He wants to go away and do something similar to what I’ve done [coach interstate as an assistant] and expand his coaching ability, which I think is a great thing for Dan.
“I caught up with Dan a couple of times, I played a round of golf with him a few weeks ago before the [Ricky Ponting Medal] dinner here and Dan sent me a message yesterday to say well done.”
In the CT clean out, Damien Wright was also sacked as a senior assistant coach, despite being asked to apply and present for the top job, CT CEO Nick Cummins confirmed.
“We need a fresh approach,” Cummins said. “There has been a group of people working at CT over the last few years from a particular era that we need to draw a line under that era and move forward.”
